PREAMBLE |
A meeting of thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons from the Asia Pacific region, |

| RECOGNISING |
that they have a primary responsibility to discharge for humanity in general, and in connection with their medical profession in particular; |
| |
|
| BEING |
convinced that the sharing of information and expertise in the scientific and technological fields related to the development of the region can be enhanced by promoting cooperation between surgeons of the specialty practicing in the region; |

|
| DESIRING |
to give effect to the decision of the first meeting of the ATCVSA held in Manila on November 26, 1972 at the Manila Hotel, that an organization of Asian Thoracic Cardiovascular surgeons be formed. |
