As the ACVSA enters its 35 th year from the first congress held in Manila on November 1972 I would like to take the occasion to share my thoughts with pride at the achievements towards our visions "Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery for the Healthier Asia"
Through 17 congresses held biennially we have shared our common interest in the specialty, acquiring insights from the discussions led by our invited guests applicable to our region. The unique opportunity of fostering renewed camaraderie among our peers and colleagues in an environment of Asia hospitality every 2 years become a much-awaited event.
The occasion continues to grow with the introduction of the new members in the council, reaffirming its commitment to meet new challenges in the specialty with the application of new technology. The new breed of young surgeons is the key to the dynamism and enthusiasm now evident in the congress.
I wish to thank all the past officers and council-members for successfully managing the association to what it is now, a team effort of specialists in the region. The tireless and dedicated efforts of those who organized the past 17 congresses is truly deserving of the prestige of the ACVSA, encouraging members across the globe in a bond that serves as an inspiration for those who will continue to assure a lasting legacy for our specialty .
On behalf of those who contributed to the success of ACVSA, thank you for your continued trust and support.
